dc.description.abstract | This paper discusses the properties of cassava peel ash (CPA) as a stabilizer (Pozzolana) in the stabilization of laterite for the production of compressed lateritic bricks for construction of low income housing in reducing the gap between the housing units and the urban population. CPA stabilization of 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12% at 0, 1, 2, and 3% cement admixture were used for producing bricks at constant moisture content of 7%. Results obtained shows that the compressive strength increases with stabilization up to 6% and decrease thereafter. Of significant note is the fact the bricks produced can stand moist condition in services but are susceptible to weathering and therefore requires face treatment to avoid fast deterioration. | en_US |
