Abstract: This paper presents a novel approach to modeling Dynamic Structure Systems (DSS) using the High Level Language for System Speci fication (HiLLS), a graphico-textual language that combines system-theoretic and software engineering concepts from DEVS (Discrete Events System Speci fications) and Object-Z respectively to form a uni fied language for specifying Discrete Events Systems for multiple analysis methodologies. We take bene fit of the expressive and user-friendly notations of HiLLS to alleviate the complexity of modeling dynamic structured systems and use Dynamic Structure DEVS (DSDEVS) as one of its semantics domains to take advantage of the latter's simulation protocol and its associated tool(s). We provide as a case study, the modeling of a Cash Deposit Machine of an automated teller machine to illustrate how HiLLS is used to model DSS and its equivalent DSDEVS model for simulation.
