Directory of Academic and Research Librarians in North-Central Nigeria

Abstract

A Directory is any document that contains the list of names, people, organization or institution with their addresses usually arranged alphabetically for easy accessibility and retrieval of information. This publication contains particulars of library and Information Science professionals with at least Bachelor degree in Library Science, Library and Information Science working in Universities, Colleges of Education, Polytechnics, and Monotechnics as well as, Research Organization, Research Institutes, Medical Centre’s and some government parastatals within North-Central geopolitical zone government of Nigeria. The Directory covers six states namely: Benue, kogi, kwara, Nassarawa, Niger, and Plateau and FCT Abuja in North-Central geopolitical zone. The list of librarians was obtained through “Nominal List of Librarians in Nigeria “; Nigerian Library Association Annuals conference attendance list and direct correspondence with colleagues. The compilation of this Directory faced some difficulties, most especially with the changing nature of data submitted as a result of additional qualifications, transfer, death and retirement of professionals. Another serious problem was the non-response as well as delay in the return of completed copies of bio-data forms by the respondents. Despise these challenge, this publication would be of great value to Nigeria Library Association (NLA) and others who wish to contact libraries as well as professional colleagues who may wish to contact themselves. The entries are arranged alphabetically by Librarians’ Surname indicated by capital letters followed by other names in small letter. For easy location of information in the Directory, institutional and geographical indexes are provided.
