dc.description.abstractThe chapter explore the related concept of government and government document with regard to the scope of (legislature, judiciary, and executive). The chapter also highlighted the characteristics and methods of acquiring government documents in libraries and information centers respectively, forms of government document (director, reports-annual, technical and report of inquiry as well as bills, constitution, decree, budget, development plans, etc. were critical discussed, threats to government documents rational behind preservation and methods of preservation were critically highlighted. Also explore include value of government documents (information, research, administrative, legal and fiscal) as well as bibliographic control of local, state and federal government documents.en_US
