Abstract: | The paper identified the skills required and skills passed by industrial and technology education students of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria. Three research questions and a hypothesis was used for the study. The data were analyzed using mean and z-test statistics. The hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that the students passed fourty-three (43) skills and did not possess twenty (20) skills. Some of the skills the students didn't possess include servicing diesel engines (vehicles), using concrete mixing machine, using cathode ray oscilloscopes, using a milling machine and tenoning machine. It was recommended that the University should endeavour to procure modern equipment for the department, generating plant should be provided for the department as there is always epileptic power supply and students should be advised to undertake their internship (SIWES) in relevant industries to complement what has been taught in the school. |
