dc.description.abstract | The study assesses the cost impact of Health and Safety management within the construction industry. The purpose of the study is to help identify the impact of cost directly to projects. Toward this end, a field survey was conducted with a sample of fifty contractors selected in a given geographical region with high density of construction work. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using a tabular presentation identifying percentages of given responses. The results reveal that contractors are aware that health and safety compliance is correlated with the scope of their operations. The study results also reveal that the accident and injury rates in the Nigerian construction industry are high. Thus, the results reveal the challenges facing Nigerian contractors and companies in terms of high cost incurred as a result of injuries and hazards on site.. The findings indicate the need for effective health and safety management and regulation and control of activities in the Nigerian construction industry more definitively. | en_US |
