dc.description.abstractThis paper examined the effect of Computer Game Assisted Instruction Method (CGAIM) and students achievement in Social Studies in Nigerian schools.An overview of the position of social studies subject in schools was undertaken, showing Social studies was in need of more attention in method of teaching. In response, CGAIM was integrated in the teaching of some concepts in social studies. Two research questions and hypotheses were formulated to direct the study. Social Studies Achievement Test was used in data collection from 176Juniour secondary school students (JSSII).The results showed that there was significant difference in the achievement of students in favour of CGAIM, and there was no significant difference in the achievement if make and female students taught with CGAIM. It was recommended that Education Ministries and Boards should give priority to in-service training,seminars and workshops to acquaint teachers with the innovative methods of teaching especially using computersen_US
