Title: Effects of Improvized Human Liver Model on Academic Achievement in Biology Among Senior Secondary School Students in Kontagora Niger State Nigeria

Abstract: The study sought to investigate the effects of Improvized human liver model on academic achievement in liver structure and functions among senior secondary schools in Kontagora Niger State. Three intact classes from co-, educational schools were purposefully selected for the study.The population of the study compromised all Biology teachers and 2,392 SSIII students. 120 students (60 males, 60 females) were randomly drawn from the intact classes. The the groups were randomly assigned in to experimental and control groups. Two research hypotheses were raised and tested at 0.05 level of significance. Biology Achievement Test which was validated and confirmed reliable was used for data collection. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and independent t-test. Results revealed that there was significant difference between the mean scores of students taught with liver model and those taught with traditional method in favour of the experimental group. No gender difference was detected between the mean scores of male and female students in taught with the model. It was concluded that Improvized models are important tools for effective teaching and learning of Biology concepts. It was recommended anong others that teachers should be improvising and utilizing models for teaching and learning of Biology in senior secondary schools in Niger State
