Abstract: | This study is aimed to examine pre-service teachers perception towards the utilization of social media for collaborative learning. The study involves a cross-sectional type of survey design. The study consists of 134 pre-service teachers in Science Education Department of Federal University of Technology, Minna, which were drawn through simple random sampling technique. Four research questions were posed and answered in the study. To achieve this, a validated questionnaire was distributed to the 134 pre-service teachers of the department. The data collected were coded and analyzed through descriptive statistics using mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study show that the pre-service teachers have positive perception of social media as a learning tool for collaborative learning. The findings also show that the preservice teachers have the intention of using social media in their teaching. This study recommend that The school should provide adequate orientation, motivation and training for pre-service teachers to acquire relevant skills to maximally benefit from online teaching and learning through social media. |
