Abstract: Abstract Fractionation, separation and purification of the ethyl acetate extract of the unripe fruits of N. latifolia (family Rubiaceae) using series of flash chromatography led to the isolation of a fatty acid, (palmitic acid) and two fatty acid esters (ethyl palmitate and ethenyl pentadecanoate). Characterization and structural elucidation of these compounds was achieved using UV, IR, proton-NMR, carbon 13-NMR, GC-MS, melting points and literature search.
