The adverse effect of increasing energy demand on the global climate has made buildings objects of research globally. Generally, in Nigeria, a lack of building energy data and specifically energy consumption information related to building facilities in universities has been given less attention, where bulk-metering has been the common practice. Consequently, the energy demand of individual buildings remains unknown. Hence, the Energy Use Index (EUI) was adopted as an energy performance indicator for the main administrative office buildings of federal universities in north-central Nigeria. This study has been exploratory in nature and has adopted a case study technique. A simple energy audit was conducted in the absence of individual monthly energy bills. The end-use disaggregation shows that cooling loads account for more than 40% of annual energy consumption. Also, the derived EUI of 197.85 KWh/m2/yr was above the benchmark for similar buildings globally. This outcome impliesthat the buildingsareenergy inefficient and need sub-metering and regular energy audits.en_US
