Abstract: | The use of ICT in teaching-learning process is a relatively new phenomenon and it has been an educational research focus for effective integration of this technology into classroom practices. This study was aimed at investigating the perception of lecturers towards information and media technology in improving the quality of teaching and learning in Federal University of Technology Minna and a Survey design was employed. The population of the study was 133 lecturers’ in the Federal University of Technology Minna, Niger state. The sampling technique used was the Yaro Yamani Formula to arrive at the sample size of fifty (50) lecturers’ that were randomly selected. The major instrument of the study used for data collection was a well titled and structured questionnaire titled “Lecturers perception on the use of information and media technology questionnaire” (LPIMQ) which was used to gather the data which was analyzed using mean, standard deviation, frequency count and percentages. The instrument was validated and its reliability coefficient established was 0.82 which was correlated using cronbach alpha formula. The study hence showed that lecturers in federal university of technology Minna are used to ICT and make use of them in improving the quality of teaching and learning. It was recommended that investments of the college on lecturers’ training programs for instructional technologies and support services of instructional technologies should be prioritized to integrate ICT into teaching-learning process and avenues should be created for lecturers not having ICT tools to have and start using them. |
