Abstract: | Nigeria is a developing economy that is blessed with abundant human and material sources. Paradoxically, her chemical industry is still at low ebb of development. This industry therefore requires an attention. This research effort x-rayed the strategic importance of how the output of the chemical industry depends on the stock of skilled chemical manpower. The working conditions of the existing chemical labour force were also critically analyzed. At 95% confidence level, the coefficient and the constant of the regression model obtained indicated normal and correct signs. The goodness of fit, F-test statistic and T-ratio test all showed that the parameters in the regression relationship were significant, implying that there were positive and direct relationship between skilled manpower and the companies’ output. Although, the working conditions were not too bad , the research revealed that there is still a room to elevate the status of manpower in the chemical industry in terms of training and moderate work hour. |
