dc.description.abstractThe study outlined appropriate career decision making among university students in other to reduce cases of drop out and insecurity in Nigeria. To achieve that, the study adopted survey research design to seek opinion of respondents. The study coved two Universities in Niger State, Nigeria; FUT Minna and IBBU Lapai. The instrument used for the study were questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed to gathered data for providing answer to the research questions of the study. The reliability coefficients obtained for all the sections were as follow; cluster A, 0.87; Cluster B, 0.82; Cluster C, 0.92. The reliability coefficient for the entire 33 items questionnaire was determined to be 0.86. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the research questions, while z- test and One – way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), were used to analysed different hypotheses to determine the no significant different at (P ˂ .05) level of significance. Findings among others on factors that led to the course of study includes; family influence, grades obtained, poor information, financial constraints and secondary education teachers’ influence. Recommended strategies among others are; Effective career education in secondary education, good parenting style, enhancing student’s self-efficacy and teachers should ensure his or her subject is interestingen_US
