Technical and Vocational Education and the Realization of National Industrialization and Development in Nigeria

Abstract

This paper discusses Technical and Vocational Education and Training in realization of National Industrialization and Development in Nigeria. TVET is oriented towards world of work and acquisition of employable skills which will help in national industrialization and national development. Industrialization is a condition marked by an increase in the importance of technology education to industrial and economic development of that country. The development of any nation is critical to the economical survival and vibrancy of that nation particularly for a developing nation like Nigeria who is still struggling with serious problem of unemployment and underemployment. Vocational and technical education a multidisciplinary and pragmatic field of study is aimed at equipping the individual with requisite skills which will enhance their relevance and functionality in the society. This paper therefore, examine technical and vocation in Nigeria and the realization of national industrialization and development, its significance roles with regards to the development in Nigeria, the challenges as well as possible suggestion and recommendations.
