Abstract: The emergence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) accentuated accessibility and use of electronic information resources with the ultimate goal of enhancing sustainable development in all organisations including library schools in polytechnics. The Federal Government of Nigeria has been making frantic moves to provide electronic resources to notable organisations. The efforts of the government have not yielded enough fruits due to some factors like: inaccessibility of electronic information resources and lack of technical skills required to navigate the technology on the part of the users and staff. Numerous benefits are accruable from access to and use of electronic information resources (EIRs). Such benefits include: bringing about positive academic change in all ramifications, affect library services provision positively and affect overall learning outcomes significantly. It was concluded that access to and use of EIRs are vital to the information profession as the two concepts share symbiotic relationship in this age of digital revolution and clarion call for sustainable development. As a way forward, it was suggested amongst others that the Federal Government of Nigeria should come out with more pragmatic measures aimed at lowering the prohibitive cost of bandwith as well as other ICT related facilities.
