Abstract: This paper presents the concept and importance of Education and National Development. Challenges facing early childhood Education which have to do with establishment of early childhood/pre-primary (Nursery) school curriculum, mode of curriculum delivery, monitoring and Evaluation and the teacher are presented. Suggestions as to what should be done for improvement with respect to vision for 2020 and beyond are presented. Conclusively, the establishment of pre-primary school settings, its control and operation require full involvement of government. The curriculum, teachers and other resources that facilitate learning must be qualitative and monitored from time to time so that the products will be appropriately developed in order to contribute to national development.
