Abstract

Teaching is a very old art. It is an intentional activity which is aimed at bringing about learning or impartation of knowledge into learners. The main purpose of training an individual in the art of teaching is the learner. The reason for this is that learning is only said to have taken place when there is knowledge transfer from the teacher to the learner. More so, the principles and methods of teaching rely heavily on the teacher’s experience of the child, the environment and the innovative approach to reaching where students have control over their learning. Hence, a teacher aside being a master of the subject matter, must intentionally be well acquainted with the various ways by which he can transfer knowledge, skills and ideas to his students.
